Some of the Development Capital team spent an enjoyable day assisting in FoodCloud’s Kitchen in Clondalkin, Dublin last week.
FoodCloud Kitchen showcases how surplus food can be spectacular! It uses excess surplus food from FoodCloud Hubs that would otherwise be wasted as ingredients to prepare a delicious food experience for citizens, community organisations, and corporate partners (via FoodCloud’s food truck) at markets, festivals, and events.
A big thank you to the FoodCloud chef and staff that helped to coordinate our involvement and provided us with the opportunity to learn about the incredible work they do to create a sustainable and positive impact in our society.
The Development Capital team spent the day assisting to:
Bake soda bread, as well as other sweet and savoury baked goods following the chef’s recipes;
Help to create the hot meals as well as sealing for distribution to charities and community groups; and
Ensure that kitchen hygiene standards are met by cleaning surfaces and floors, washing utensils and rearranging as per chefs’ instructions.
FoodCloud’s mission is to enable businesses to contribute to their community in a meaningful and practical way, is one we at Development Capital are fully aligned with. As a team and individually we make conscious choices to make a sustainable and positive impact in our investee companies and society.
To date, FoodCloud has redistributed more than 338 million meals in Ireland and internationally and amounts to the reduction of more than 425,000 tonnes of CO2- equivalent.
We are delighted to contribute in a small part to such a fantastic organisation.
